Balancing the Leg & Foot - 16 CEs (Texas)
The feet provide the foundation for the whole body. In this class the therapist will cover kinesiology, assessment, treatment and pathology in order to better understand the foot complex and how it functions. This course will teach the therapist tools that will help them create treatment plans to help clients and athletes of all abilities and backgrounds.
Kinesiology - Understand the structure, muscle and movements of the foot. In this portion the student will gain the knowledge of basic kinesiology to understand the function of the foot.
Treatment - Treatment covers soft tissue manipulation, fascial release, and joint mobilizations. Combining the kinesiology and assessment the therapist will be able to create a treatment designed specific for the athlete.
Assessment - Building off of the kinesiology and using a combined assessment of range of motion, postural assessment and observation the student will learn how to assess the athlete to better understand which muscle to address during the session.
Pathology - Knowing when to treat and when not to treat is important. Also knowing when to refer out can be establish by understand the condition of the athlete and when, how, what and why to treat.
